CERT motorcycle ride fundraiser March 27

Now that spring has sprung, motorcycle enthusiasts have another good reason to hit the road: a March 27 fundraiser to benefit the Peachtree City Community Emergency Response Team.

The ride will start at 10 a.m. at Cooper Lighting off Ga. Highway 74 south, going through Senoia and to Warm Springs for a brief stop. Then the ride will continue to Newnan where it will end at the Great South Harley Davidson for lunch, music and fun.

A $25 entry fee per driver guarantees a free lunch, T-shirt and entry in prize drawings. Passengers are only $5, but the price is $10 if they want the additional T-shirt.

Registration for the event begins on-site at 8 a.m. but pre-registration is available by contacting Capt. Stan Pye at 770-487-8866 or at captpye@peachtree-city.org.

CERT is a group of community volunteers who have taken advanced emergency preparedness classes so they can help should a large-scale emergency or disaster strike. Among other tasks, CERT members are trained in first aid, respond to a mass casualty event, assess injuries and cut up fallen trees to help clear roads.

Each CERT class is tested in its final meeting with a critiqued mock emergency drill.
CERT members also appear at various public events to help educate the public on how they can be prepared for any emergency or disaster.
