Turtle tracking in Fayette’s woodlands goes high tech

An Eastern box turtle in hibernation has just been covered with a protective layer of leaves after having the radio transmitter battery replaced (below). Those participating in the Feb. 4 wildlife tracking project at the city nature preserve off Burch Road in Fayetteville included (L-R) biologist Dennis Chase, Fayette County High School students Kasmyne Pender, Anna Gehring and J.T. Fernandez and FCHS science teacher Gini Ann Loeffler. Photo/Ben Nelms.
