The wait for the bubble is nearly over

The brand-new bubble is up over the Kedron Fieldhouse pools, but it won’t likely be ready for business until Feb. 1 or shortly thereafter, Peachtree City officials have said. The structure is a sight for sore eyes for residents who have missed the chance to swim indoors this winter, including Fayette County’s high school swim teams. Photo/John Munford.

So, that’s the World Famous PTC Bubble.

I think I saw something like that in an old Woody Allen movie. It came with a warning about how they usually travel in a pairs. (Ba-Ta-bing!)

If it gave milk, it could feed the entire county. (Ba-Ta-boom!)

It’s almost as big as the mayor’s mouth! (Ba-Ta-Bing-Bang-Boom-Clang-Clang-Ka Boom!)

Remember: If you think Social Security and Medicare are worth saving, vote Democratic.

Duh, Dar, give it a rest---you didn't get what you wanted--the

rest of us didn't want it--if you are so hell-bent on your project and it is so cost-efficient, build it yourself. You are like that song that gets into your head and plays over and over and you can't get rid of it--or that gnat that keeps buzzing around your ear--annoying and non-productive.

Do you even have a clue to what you are talking about? Just to clarify, are you saying you did not want lower taxes and a true aquatic center building? Are you saying you think it's okay for the citizen's of PTC to pay over $500,000 a year to support the Kedron Aquatic Center? Because it sounds like that what you are saying.

Trust me, it doesn't effect me one way or the other.

Top Three Secrets in PTC!

1. Why is Better Way allowed to illegally run a car lot?

2. Why won't the city take Dar's million bucks?

3. Who owns the Photocircuits site now?

Can anyone answer all three of these questions? I bet DJ Bobby M can!

Secrets? 2 out of 3 maybe

And I do believe the Pats by 6 is a better prediction. I wonder which Home Depot that Raven's kicker will be working at next year.

1.A Better Way's commercial businesses including the car lot in an industrial park is allowed because commercial is allowed to exist in industrial if a case can be made that the commercial business serves the businesses and employees in the industrial park. I think Mike Hyde's gas station is allowed for that same reason.
2. I think Dar wanted to take ownership of the property and manage it afterwards. City government exists to grow larger and exert more control over us. Rarely would they consider going in the other direction. Dar would know for sure, but he hasn't said much about that.
3. Photocircuits? Who knows? But if A Better Way needs to expand......

And some new ones:
1. How fast are we proceeding with the hiring of an Economic Development Coordinator?
2. Did the city close the loophole that allows Trinity Development a 120,000 square foot big box?
3. Why don't we get rid of some of the old police cars before we buy new ones?

Just to Clarify

I have and had no interest in taking ownership of the property. I was going to donate the building (2 buildings actually)to the city. Yes, it is true, I would manage the facility but the tax-payer would see added benefit, a reduction by $300,000.00 anually to the tax-payers of PTC, and the city would still own the asset(s).

Ok, I stand corrected, Dar. So, who in the city is the grinch?

Why would the city turn down that deal?
They retain ownership and you manage it more efficiently and they save money. Right?
So, who in city government turned down a sweetheart deal like that?
What was the vote?
Who for? Who against?
Who was the mayor at that time?
Why do we have such weak leadership in the city of peaches?

The real question is - will Peyton still be a Colt next year? Will he retire? Will he be released? Will he play for another team? Will he ever get another ring? What do your Ninja instincts tell you?

tell me that Peyton is gone from Indy. If I had a looming payment of 28 mil to a QB that had been in the league for over 10 years and coming off three neck surgeries, I would say thanks for the memories! Another ring is a long shot unless as a backup somewhere! Hey, that's an idea, the Falcons should get him as a backup/tutor to Ryan!

point now....the city contracted and bought the bubble. Game over! This deal cost the city about 1.8 million dollars when you look at the deal as a whole. That doesn't include the $3,000,000.00 (three-million dollars) plus the city will lose over the next 7 to 10 years.

To make this issue perfectly clear, these discussions started years ago and were ongoing at some level. I got the impression that it really just wasn't a priority to the city to look at possible solutions or alternatives to the bubble or to Kedron as a whole.

DOES NOT HAVE a GA used car dealers license! Look it up! John Barrow probably cannot get one because of his past felony convictions! Doesn't PTC have some ordinances that businesses must be property licensed by the state to get a business permit?! Why does the city continue to allow illegality to run rampant in our fine and pristine city?! Where is Hizzoner the mayor on this?! Illegal is illegal, Christian do-gooder or not! Ninja - One more

secret you should be aware of, the used car lot is a front for the INS. They are posing as salesmen to catch illegals buying illegal cars from an illegal car lot. It is run by our Justice Department and modeled on the current gun running operation set up to catch gun shops selling the US government's illegal guns going across the boarder to Mexico.

In fact, some of these illegal cars, sold by illegal salesmen, from an illegal car lot, driven by illegal aliens, could carry the illegal guns and illegal drugs illegally across the boarder back into the USA.

Hope this clears this up for you, remember its your government at work, so don't question it. The mayor can't help you, this is a planned community.

Here's an idea for you to ponder, let's pass a law to shut down the entire industrial park, that'll show'em! Let's make the entire area illegal.

your ability to write in the absurd voice! Now, keep working on the humor part and you might be able to write an interesting post by 2039!

Yes, the Operation Gun and Run was a debacle, but I am in favor of repealing the 2nd amendment, so I don't really have much to say on gun running, government sponsored or other wise, other than its bad. I guess you can get quite a few AK47s and a couple of illegal aliens in the trunk of the Malibu though!

Oh, I don't really expect the mayor to help--you know I just like needling people that need needling. Helps me pass the time while counting the beans.

Hey, any luck finding the world police in the US CONSTITUTION yet? Here's a hint--it starts with P.

Why, Ninja ,

does it not surprise me that you would want to repeal the Second Amendment, then you would only have nine more to go to have your perfect world order.

Have you had any luck in finding the Constitution to read? You can find it by googling "US Constitution".

Why would you want the mayor involved?

What can he do? I think his talent at making things worse than they need to be should be kept under wraps for now.

Besides, he almost certainly has a city business permit and he would argue (quite correctly) that if the city had some state requirement they should have mentioned it before they gave him a business license. I mean its like approving a house plan and letting John Wieland build it and then tell him he has to move it because it is too close to a big tree they missed during their inspection. Nobody at the city would do something that stupid would they?

I'd rather have the used cars instead of A Better Way Rest Home for old carnival rides, RV's and boats or whatever John's next step will be if the city tries to intimidate him.

He is always commenting on the legality or illegality of golf cart crossings, economic development authorities, and such! He should therefore know about used car dealership licensing requirements in our fine and pristine city! Anyway, I think the auto business was added on AFTER the thrift shop was set up! The city should not let ex-cons push it around on matters of the law!

Looks likes

a project that could not afford to be done right. Really, we live in Peahctree City...a planned, elite community and this is our aquatic center? REALLY? When the bubble goes down the Peachtree City taxpayers will be paying for all to use, which include but not limited to Riverdale, Fairburn, Fayetteville, Cowetta County, and the list goes on. I'm just curious as to if someone is going to get a clue on this whole Kedron pool and Fieldhouse fiasco. It's costing taxpayers $500 to 700 k a year and it doesn't seem to bother anyone. WOW!

I know of no-one who moved to Peachtree city because we have a bubble or a rec pool. I hope that some one will re-think this whole program.

Mr. Thompson - Well

why don't you make the city an offer to take it off their hands? Then you could run it at a profit....or maybe you couldn't.

Could it be that the customer demand couldn't support the costs? That's the way government works, you spread the costs to others, a little to everyone, then no one notices the cost. However, a small group gets what it wants. This small group (voting block) then rewards those public "servants" by re-electing them. The circle of abuse goes on and on.

So, no one is going to "re-think" any program that gets them elected or panders to their "needs". On the contrary, they will create more of these programs to feed off the public carcass, your carcass.

the same old socialist clap trap from the Ninja, you can do better than that.

Try reading the US Constitution, there you will find your answers about roads and such. The police? There too pal.

As for Mr. Newt, he's more of the same, Mr. Romney more of the same, you more of the same....all cast from the same mold. There's not one degree of separation between a Republican and Democrat.

the Constitution of a different country! Maybe the constitution of your home country Buttholeia. The only roads I see referred to in the US Constitution are 'post roads.' You really think the dear old founding fathers envisioned the government building roads from coast to coast, north to south, and everywhere in between!

As for police, that word does NOT appear in the US Constitution even ONCE!

Oh? Really Ninja

Nothing in there about commerce? Nothing in there about a judiciary? Nothing in there about equal protection? Pray tell us how we can have protection without force of law and by extension.....police?

There are a lot of words that aren't in the Constitution, Ninja. Interpretation of the Constitution is what is at the basis of all debate about it. Those that would exploit it for their own purposes have created massive lobbies, gigantic programs, and legalized corruption.

The construction of the Constitution was to separate and divide power, not to consolidate it. Its intended purpose is (was) to protect us from the very government that it creates. Sadly it has failed us, or more specifically we have failed ourselves in protecting our own freedom. We are now its dependents.

Actually, roads and internal improvements has had a long Constitutional debate attached to it. You should read up on it. You will find that following the Civil War the sweeping changes to the interpretation of the Constitution led to the Crédit Mobilier scandal of 1872 created under Lincoln, and corruption in the Navy, Justice, War, Treasury, Interior, and State departments during the Grant administration. In fact it was during this period that the term "lobbyist" became part of our lexicon.
