6 yr. old PTC girl dies after pellet rifle accident

A six year-old Peachtree City girl passed away Jan. 20 after receiving an injury to her throat by a pellet from a discharged pellet rifle.

Peachtree City Police spokesperson Rosanna Dove said city police officers and firefighters at approximately 12:26 p.m. responded to a residence on Teal Vista in the Planterra Ridge subdivision in reference a 6 year-old girl who had received an injury to her throat by a pellet that had been discharged from a pellet rifle.

“Upon arrival, the child was unconscious and in very critical condition as a result of this wound,” Dove said.

Dove said fire department personnel transported the girl to Piedmont Fayette Hospital where the child passed away as a result of the injury.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family as they cope with unfortunate accident. No further information will be released out of respect for the family,” Dove said.

Yo...

...better take their drivers licenses away, too, and don't let them play any sports. I'd rather my kids have weapons training than have to survive driving around the ubiquitous GA road idiots.

I'm so angry

I know zero of the circumstances, but I refuse to let my son have an "airsoft" rifle. I live close in PTC and there a ton of kids that age and up playing with these deadly "toys". I have been preaching for years something bad would happen. My heart aches for the family in this horrible tragedy and I pray there was not another child involved. Parents can PREVENT this. Take the damn guns away!

Not Airsoft

Prayers for family in this tragedy....just to clear up difference..this was not an airsoft gun...it was a pellet gun which shoots a very high velocity metal pellet...there have been no deaths attributed to airsoft guns only eye injuries, etc. due to their low velocity and plastic shot and kids not wearing protective glasses....

Our thoughts & prayers...

...go out to this family. From the little I've seen or read, it appears to be a horrible, horrible accident. God bless this child and her family.

. . to this family. I can't imagine the pain.
