Fayette GOP to hold precinct mass meetings in Feb.

On Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at 10 a.m., the Fayette County Republican Party will convene precinct mass meetings to elect delegates and alternates to the Fayette County Republican Party Convention.

All Fayette County residents who are legally registered to vote and believe in the principles of the Republican Party are urged to participate in this process.

Registration is without charge and will open at 9 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2011 and the precinct meetings will begin promptly at 10 a.m. at the Harvest Community Christian Center, located at 383 North Glynn Street, Fayetteville, Georgia 30214.

The Fayette County Republican Party Convention will convene at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Harvest Community Christian Center, 383 North Glynn Street, Fayetteville, Georgia 30214, to elect delegates and alternates to the Third Congressional District and state Republican Party Conventions.

Additionally, the convention will be adopting the rules of the Fayette County Republican Party and electing officers for the 2011-2013 term.

The Third Congressional District Convention will convene at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2011 in Columbus, Georgia. The District Convention will be adopting rules for the Third Congressional District Republican Party and electing officers for the 2011-2013 term. The convention will also elect members of the State Committee of the Georgia Republican Party.

The Georgia Republican Party State Convention will convene at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011 in Macon, Georgia and will elect officers of the Georgia Republican Party and conduct all other necessary and proper business.

Bringing back goat sacrifice?

It's good to see the Republicans have opted this year to hold their delegate selection process in a church, rather than a local restaurant.

The past few years, the delegate selection meeting was held at local restaurants, where health code regulations precluded the ritual goat sacrifice.

Some people felt that having the elected delegates lick the feet of the false idol Moloch (the false god of Republicans) was enough to ensure a delegate's fealty to Republican values, but traditionalists believe that nothing truly replaces anoiting the brow of the Selected with the blood of a freshly sacrificed goat.

Bacon & Goats

I vote to have the selection process somewhere in Mexico--surely no problem there with goat whatever--and also suggest we invite a few naval aviators, especially those with video production expertise, so we can have a few laughs once in a while.

Mexico's a good idea, Gym, but...

Mexico is a great idea, Gym, don't get me wrong....but most of the Fayette Republican leadership still have outstanding Interpol warrants for that little incident at the ladyboy brothel in Thailand two years ago. Leaving the country would not be a very smart idea for them right now.

Brothels in Thailand? Spent some time in Bangkok & Udorn (30 days) both on pleasure & business, and never came across a Brothel. Guess you're just more of a 'man of the world' than I am.

Now Bacon....

Having attended a couple goat barbeques back in the day, if memory serves, they were hosted by local Democratic candidates however. Quite the event, actually for us southern types.

I did witness a goat being sacrificed in the mideast back during my military days, and the wailing was terrible after the throat was cut.

You wouldn't be accusing anyone of such behavior, would you?

Hog Butchering...

....on the farm! Farm butchering of hogs is similar to goat butchering in other parts of the world.
The biggest difference being we have to shoot a hog between the eyes before we throw him down and cut his throat wide open and then penetrate his heart to promote massive bleeding so that the meat will taste better, bled! Or is that a Kosher thing?

The bayonet from a Garand M-1 was ideal for stabbing the heart. Special homemade at the farm blacksmith shop butcher knives were used for throat cutting. Highly tempered out of the fire.

Hogs aren't friendly like most goats and they are bigger and meaner. Also, they don't wail, they squeal! Stupid goats get milked in the morning and slaughtered in the afternoon!

Hogs can certainly be bar-b-qued, especially wild hogs in Georgia, but the only way I knew of it was to cut them up into hams, shoulders, ribs, pork chops, tender loin, roasts, using the head for souse (we gave that away) along with the chitterlings. We never pickled the feet for alcohol bars, nor made tail soup like they do from Ox tails. Of course sausage was important, and the saving of pork bellies to trade on Wall Street!
I have never seen a horse butchered, but the French love horse meat so I assume someone does that here with the Mustangs rounded up out west.

The herds from Texas or Mexico to Kansas could make the trip on about 10 beefs slaughtered on the trail for the cook pot.

Must need heavy equipment to butcher a bison and save it all.
Rabbits and squirrels are good pan fried and then make gravy from the pan grease to put onto butter-milk biscuits.

How did we get onto this subject--I could go forever about groundhogs, coons, etc.? Our first 10,000 years hasn't changed much really! Bits and Gigs is all.

I know how I got started, you mentioned goats!

Hogsnout & hog killing

funny, I always thought they shot them in the ear. And I've attended more than one hog killing, usually in Nov, and remember eating tenderloin & eggs (and of course hot buiscuits) next morning. You forgot the lye soap and cracklin'bread and pork skins. Or maybe you just didn't experience those.

Yes, I remember lye soap and pork skins, but we didn't do cracklings as I said.
Some cooked and ate the "lights." (lungs), we didn't, nor the liver. Those wonderful items were carried off by bystanders however, along with the head.
I helped my Grandmother cook fat into lye soap in a copper kettle over an open fire, stirred with the Apple butter sash!

Pork skins ere cooked in the oven to render the fat for soap and then we did eat some of the pork rinds, as we still do.

I have seen many hogs killed. stabbed and gutted, but never shot in the ear. They may do that at a commercial slaughter house, I don't know, but I can't conceive hitting the inside of the hog's ear as he wanders around as we could see the areas just above the parallel eye line pretty easily.
We used long-rifle, .22 bullets. Anything larger would destroy meat on the inside.

You are correct about November or later for killing. The cool temperature made the smells better and the meat remained fresh longer until it could be cooked, canned, or salted down and hung.

If some religious people are correct about the dinosaurs living at the same time as the humans, can you imagine spearing one to death and cooking one? The raptors would have been a tough go---imagine as many cave men lost their lives as did the raptors!

Gym, bringin' home the bacon...

I was reading an article...i believe it was in Atlanta magazine... about how yuppie thrillseekers pay good money to attend a weekend of hog-slaughtering. They are taught everything they need to know about rendering a hog, using everything but his tail and his oink.

Never attended one, myself. I guess I'll have to cede my "man of the world" crown back to you...
