All-day PTC Council ‘orientation’ is Thursday
The new Peachtree City Council will hit the ground running Thursday with a “city council orientation meeting” that will help them set a course for the new year and beyond.
The meeting will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the McIntosh Place building, which formerly was the recreation administration building at 191 McIntosh Trail.
Following a welcome and overview, the first item of business will be an overview of open records and open meetings laws along with the procedures outlined in Robert’s Rules of Order, starting at 9:30 a.m. That will be followed at 11 with a discussion on council and staff roles and expectations and a “working lunch” at noon.
Then at 1 p.m. council will begin the discussion on the city’s short- and medium-term goals, both on identifying them and also prioritizing them. That discussion is expected to be lengthy and will last until the scheduled adjournment at 4 p.m.
With new Mayor Vanessa Fleisch, brand new Councilman Terry Ernst both sworn in last week and new Councilman Mike King having taken office in November, there are two new faces to welcome to the mix along with returning re-elected Councilwoman Kim Learnard and holdover Councilman Eric Imker.
Among the items that could be discussed during the meeting are highway traffic issues, budget considerations and more, though none of these items are specifically listed on the agenda for the meeting.
