I
grew up in LaGrange, Georgia, and attended Troup County High School.
I joined the fledgling newspaper staff there and was immediately
hooked. After graduating in 1982, I took some computer classes and
started work at LaGrange Daily News in 1984 as a typesetter.
In
1994 I turned 30 and decided to finally do the college thing. I
squeezed a four-year degree into six years and after spending most
of my nights and weekends with Shakespeare et al. I graduated in
2000 with a Bachelors degree in English. I continued working
at the LaGrange Daily News and learned all kinds of new technology
as we underwent a drastic change from manual paste-up to computerized
pagination.
My husband took a job in Peachtree City in 2001 so we decided to
move to Fayette County. After trying the work at a print shop for
a few weeks I realized it was not for me. You just cant get
the news ink out of your blood once its there. I then came
to work for the Citizen. The folks here are extremely nice and professional
and they really care about what they do. Im happy to be a
part of such an enthusiastic and hard-working bunch!
I currently live just outside of Fayetteville with my wonderful
husband and four children, two girls, 15 and 10, and two boys, 2
and 11 months. I enjoy walking in the early mornings and going to
plays and museums and just hanging out with my family. As far as
hobbies, I really dont have many other than reading and surfing
the Net, but I hope to learn to sew soon as I have become addicted
to the Renaissance Festival and I cant really afford the ready-made
garb that is so much fun to wear!
